2015 Polaris 900 won't start. Was starting with fast idle, rough running with backfires, now won't start at all. Was running perfect.

Never gave any trouble. Difficult to start with loud exhaust and fast idle, than woul die. Cleaned spark arrester, changed plugs, now won't start!

Fast idle start usually indicates an air leak somewhere.check carburettor bolts are tight and engine head bolts are tight.try that first

The Machine is new, do you have a warranty? Has the machine been sitting for a while? If so, a professional carb/fuel system cleaning and a new spark plug should take care of it.

I WOULD take it o the dealer and find out what the code means!!

SOURCE: what do I need to check

Oil level good ? Fins on head clean? Or could be electic componets braking down due to heat start with checking resistance at primary coil

Hi there,

Have you check the valves and the valve gaps?? Sometimes but not always having the wrong valve gaps can cause backfires. Have you also tried tweaking the carburetor to try and improve the idle??

My 2014 Polaris RZR 170 is running pretty rough, and is backfiring???

No on the timing..sounds like the carb needs a professional cleaning.. and replace the spark plug!!

I have a 2015 polaris ranger mid size 4x4 electronic start. The engine turns over, the fuel pump seems to put out a good stream, but there is no fire. Are there some simple tests I can try? Walt

Make sure your rig is in neutral. Some types cut the plug power others cut all power. It does sound like a blown coil pack . If it was hard to start or ran rough when going this is an indicator but not always the case.

I have a Polaris 1000 Xp I replaced the regulator it ran before I replace it but in the process putting the wires on the battery it sparked when I accidentally grounded it out .now it wouldn't start it...

make shore it is getting gas in the carburetor and try to use some starting fluid.

Polaris425 experdition, new cam, carbs taken off ,cleaned ,put back on and adjusted, engine starts right up, idles fine, when you give it throttle it wants to backfire, timing is right, any ideals

backfiring is usually a sign of an air leak in the intake manifold

2015 Sportsman 570 EFI won't start and will backfire after a couple of turns

does it have more than a one year warranty

disconnect battery terminals = reset factory default
try start again

check valve adjustment

Help 07 polaris 500 sportsman 500ho cranks but will not start backfires only. changed gas cleaned carb cleaned fuelpump new filter 80 lbs compression new plug.points under thottle leaver has gap can not...

All most positive it is in your carb take the bowl off it as you take it off there is a small tube that hangs down that all most reaches the bottom of the bowl need to take a small wire and push through it it is blocked .symptoms backfiring no idle coughing and sputtering if it does start
