Your 4 wheel drive may be working, but it is a torque-sensing front
differential for reduced steering effort, that supposedly sends power to the wheel with the most traction. Many owners have found that just the opposite is true. Your problem may mean that the differential is working, but because it doesn't lock up both tires in the front and only one tire is getting all the traction you can't see it work as advertised. The link to the video is great for showing what may be happening. The front differential may be worn out and need to be fixed or it may just be that it is not working as you expected:

I would place the machine on blocks and check the drive components one at a time. Check the shift linkage first.

The pipe glows because of the extra fuel from the choke. (four strokes do this) Look closer into the carburator for a blocked passage, or junk in a jet. Clean it out thoroughly!!!

Remove it, remove the bowl, the float, float needle, and all of the jets, and spray carburator cleaner through ALL of the ports. (You should see it come out some where else.)
Note the idle, or pilot jet may have holes along the side of it, make sure they are all clear.
If the carburator is too gummed up, then the parts need to be soaked in a chemical called "hydro seal." This is available at auto parts stores. Keep in mind that this chemical will eat gaskets, and plastic.

The engine could be cooling down or the exhaust or any other part. If you could be more specific about the area where the noise is coming from then the problem would be easier to resolve.
