If you can't get it with a telescopic magnet picker-upper, you could try a bore-scope with accessory grabber, like this

Man, I know that feeling. Did the very same, lost a socket down in my timing chain. I went to walmart, bought a cheap telescoping magnet and was able to retrieve it. Yea, it stuck to everything going down but with patience and perseverance we got it out. If the piece you lost is ferromagnetic, meaning it's attracted to magnets, try a telescoping magnet. It's tiny, straight and strong. Otherwise you are looking at rebuilding a portion of that engine.
Its really not metal it broke off my piston its aluminum
good and bad. You'll need a head gasket and a warm weekend. Can you get to the bolts holding the head on? You need to gently take off the cylinder 1/2 way, wrap a clean rag around the connecting rod to protect the part from falling into the crank case. The biggest problem you may run into is the little edge on the bottom of the cylinder. This redge is created when the piston rubs up and down the cylinder wall. It wears away some of the cylinder but the very bottom is never touched so it's the original size.
