I need initial screw settings for a YFM80 Moto 4 carburetor. I just rebuilt it but can't find initial screw settings.

Hey William,
By rebuilt, do you mean the carburetor?? ..or the engine??.. if you rebuilt the carb and you did not remove these screws ( and count the revolutions out from lightly seated), then you did not do the rebuild the carb correctly.. sorry.. What, exactly did you do to the carburetor?? Please reply on here to me..with details!!
thanks..

I cannot understand why someone that claims to have "rebuilt" a carburetor actually missed the BASCIS of carb rebuilding 090.. the air screw (the one on the angle toward the back of the carb has/is connected to the pilot jet system and the idle system, the passages that use this system must be perfectly clean for the engine to run properly.... the air screw has a spring. a spring seat and a o-ring for sealing on it.. the screw setting starts at 1 & 1/2 turns out from lightly seated.. then set the screw in the very side of the carburetor (its the one that controls the idle speed).. once you get the machine warmed up and cleaned out.. let it idle, turn the air screw in and out SLOWLY about a 1/4 turn at a time..EACH TIME ..waiting until the idle settles and then until you reach the point the machine idles as high as possible, then turn in it 1/8 of a turn.. then set the idle speed with the "side screw" to a speed you like... good luck...thanks!!

Won't stay running if you touch throttle and if your lucky and it stays running it won't go up even a little incline.Replaced gas filter,it is getting gas. Replaced also gas throttle cable.

To get a good answer you will need to re post with make, model, and year of your ATV. Also engine size if it comes with more than one.

Yamaha Grizzly 03-660. Why doesn't it start?

If you look at the picture - 29, 30 & 31 are the starter relay, main fuse and probably the bolt that holds it to the frame. When that fuse blows or that relay goes out - it's over. Not going to start. If you have a standard test light - attach the clip end to ground (frame of atv) and then put touch the postivie post of the battery to verify that the light is functional. It will light up if the battery is good. Next -follow the red cable to the starter relay in the diagram. Where it attaches - check for power. With the key off. IT should be live without the key in. It's on standby in a way. If you do not have power at the other end of your positive cable - your cable is shot. If you do - then you will have someone turn the key and check to see if power is coming from the other post off the relay (that would go to the starter and make it engage - if the square standard fuse in that relay is not blown - but power is not coming through when you touch the key - it's probably the relay. Your safety switch among other things can prevent the engine from starting as well - along with loose cables and grounds (always do a thorough check of all wire connections and grounds - one loose ground can mean a nightmare sometimes) - if you give that a try and do not identify the culprit - just comment or reach out and I'll take you through the next steps. On top end what causes the engine to lose power and then gane the power and speed back. This happens often. I have cleaned the air filter, and put a bottle of fuel cleaner in the tank. Helped some.

What you are probably experiencing is the overspeed governor. The engine has a governor installed to prevent overevving the engine and to prolong engine life. If this is the case, you need to upgrade to something faster. Modifying the governor is possible, but it will dramatically shorten the engine life and for that reason I will not go into it here. You can Google it and get information though.

Have a 2007 kawasaki ksf50. has no fire

An immobiliser is a common feature of modern cars and bikes and if it is a feature of your machine, if it isn't working correctly it is likely to prevent power reaching the coil.

I suggest you read your handbook before you go further.
