That might be the overflow tube and should not be hooked to anything, it's like a emergency drain for the carb and when you hooked it to the filter is pulling gas out of the carb at high motor speeds causing it to sputter .. jay

Sound like the needle and seat are dirty. Also check the fuel strainer / filter for debris. Usually if the needle and seat are dirty so is the filter / strainer & bowl.

Needle and seat item(s) 24 and 24 original factory Parts manual under carb. at the dealer:

(called float valve in description)

Sounds like the float valve is either not closing or is dirty and not allowing carb to fill to the proper level. i.e causes fuel starvation AND carb over filling intermittently. You can clean the needle and still have a bad seat for the needle.

Find and replace or clean the fuel filter also. If your carb has a manifold and nut on the side of it for the fuel manifold remove the nut (actually a bolt type thing) and clean the strainer inside the manifold.

You need three things to make any gas engine run, in this order double check make sure you have proper timing set, spark and fuel. Could be bad gas or a bad ground from motor to frame.

Why cant anyone answer questions about this hawkeye atv

Have you checked the Spark Plug ? No Spark & No Fuel means not going to start and run. If you are getting fuel then your Spark plug may need to be cleaned or replaced or even re-gaped. Spark plugs have a tendency to get fouled out. Meaning oil gets on it and it can not throw a good spark. If you do have a good spark then check the choke and or the float in the carb.

Thanks for allowing my in-put!

2006 Suzuki King Quad sputters at high RPMs like it's breaking down. It starts good and seems to run alright except in high RPMs.

Make sure you have the CORRECT spark plug... use what the owners manual says... NGK..

. A non - resistor plug will make some motors sputter at high rpm's ...if the quad calls for a "R" plug..use one!

Check the air cleaner and any ductwork for blockage. (Mouse nest?)

Inspect the fuel system. If the fuel line is out of place and too close to the exhaust or cylinder head, the fuel may be boiling inside the line so you don't get proper flow to the carburetor (this is one possible cause of vapor lock).

Is the choke actuator part of the new carburetor? Verify that the choke is opening when the engine warms up. If it is an automatic choke, inspect the vacuum line and thermostat controlling it. Try removing the vacuum line from the choke actuator and plugging it when the engine is warmed up, then see if the engine keeps running. If it does, the actuator diaphragm leaks when the choke is open.

Check the exhaust pipe for blockage.

If the engine has an EGR system or PCV valve, check those for proper operation. If carbon deposits cause abnormal operation of the EGR valve, the engine will kill when the valve opens too much (about the time the engine is warmed up).

If everything else is good, check the exhaust manifold for blockage by carbon deposits.
