STOP holding the starter button down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.. Its NOT really running.. My first guess is the starter needs some TLC..a professional rebuild..they are not hard to do. Diagnosing electrical issues over the internet is hard... I will think on this some more and repost if I come up with anything..sorry..

1. Make sure you have all the switches in the right place (kill switch..etc..) 1. With the key off - Take a screwdriver and jump the two big threaded connectors on the solenoid - the engine should turn over... if it doesn't - either the solenoid is bad -or you have no connections to the battery and/or starter. If it turns over, now turn the key on and see if it starts.. it should. If this works.. the problem is probably the starter button. If not...double check ALL the connections to the battery/solenoid/starter... you have probably left a wire off somewhere..( we have all done it!!)..make sure the right wires are in the right place...

is there anti-freeze or water in your oil?

Hey Walter... I need a little more.. ok, A LOT more info.. what type vehicle are we talking about? What are/were the circumstances that caused the "no power" issue? What happened? I need a few more details. Keep me posted.

if the tap sound is coming from the engine head,then it might be a new piston or piston rings or both.is there any smoke?

First check the battery connections are good,then make sure the battery is fully charged,check the fuse on the ignition system is good. Sometimes fuses partially blow and are affected by the temperature making it work intermittently.

Be sure the plug at the rear of the engine ic properly attached and clean. It gets knocked off easily.

take the choke out of the carb using a 14mm wrench. The choke is a plunger held into the front of the carb by a plastic nut. Lubricate it and put it back. Be careful not to overtighten the plastic nut.

I assume it a honda with auto trans,,,, if so needs new oil pump,,, thats what makes tthe trans work it supplies the oil to the trans so it can make presure to work

starter is probly bad and shorting out

out of gas, clogged petcock, fuel filter or stuck carb float. assuming you're getting a spark still of course. that's a whole other can of worms

take off the horn unit power it direct if it works its ok, if not replace, next step wire a small bulb into the horn wires and press the button if it lights the switch is ok, if you have a circuit tester put one end on the battery ground and check for power in the horn wires if their is power there put the lead on battery positive and press the horn button if there is no power their the switch or wiring is faulty
