The cold weather may cause your Yamaha Timberwolf to experience hard starting, several months and no use, or a stale fuel supply. 1. replace the spark plug with a new one... 2. check all your on/ff - kill switch(s) 3. If it still will not spark, you will probably need to find a pro with a service manual to start checking electrical system values...

If you are diggin in this deep .. you need a factory service manual.. Clymers or Haynes manuals will work too!

ooppsss.. FIRST - get the carbs cleaned and set by a factory trained tech!! That will clear up a lot...if it continues to smoke out the right side.. your right side crankshaft oil seal is probably leaking.. use a professional!!!

Yamaha ignition coils never go bad. It is probably the Stator/ Pulser coil (very common). You can check them with a ohm meter. You'll need the readings from a Yamaha dealership. The CDI box is very seldom bad But there is no checks that can be done on it. If everything else is fine ---than Yamaha says it must be the CDI box.(Rare)

Check the choke or motor compression.

Pull cover & remove nut after bending down locktab.Replace sprocket with new. Retighten with blue loctite on nut & refold locktab so it can't come loose.Readjust chain slack to 3/4 " in the middle of chain. Retighten rear housing bolts.

Ignition coils never go bad on a Yamaha ---Never. 95 % of the time it is a bad Stator/Pulser coil in the L. H. side cover of the motor. Can be checked with a ohm meter.

best to mix it (premix) in a separate can & forget the autolube pump. Mix 1 pint 2-cycle oil (Yamaha 2-R) to 5 gals of gas.

John replace the idle jet $5.00 at a Yam. dealer (don't try to clean it ) & make sure that the idle mixture brass screw on the bottom of the carb is set 3 1/2 turns out from lightly seated. (don't break the tip off)

Transmission Rebuild (complete motor tear down) replace the gears & shifting fork for the damaged parts.

.003 " on intake .005" on exhaust at TDC on compression stroke (cold motor)

Replace idle jet with a new one OEM is $5.00. If won't idle still the compression is so low that it won't stay running Or possibly the main seals are leaking (a 2 stroke has top end & bottom end compression.)

NO--- If you clean the case spotless of oil, 5 minute two part Epoxy will seal it. Let it set over night.
